For Block 8, you will want:

Block 8

We can be making 4 whole Block 8s.

Slicing Instructions:

Start by reducing strips from 1 medium cloth, 1 accent cloth, and 1 mild background:

6″ Completed Block

• 1 Accent Material – 3 strips 1½” x 20″

• 1 Medium Material – 3 strips every 1½” x 20″

• 1 Mild Background Material – 4 strips 1½” x 20″ and 1 strip 2½” x WOF

9″ Completed Block

• 1 Accent Material – 3 strips 2″ x 20″

• 1 Medium Material – 3 strips every 2″ x 20″

• 1 Mild Background Material – 4 strips 2″ x 20″ and 2 strips 3½” x WOF

Choose 1½” strips to create 4 patches.

From 2½” mild background strip, reduce 16 squares (2½” x 2½”).

For 9″ completed block, choose 2″ strips to create 4 patches.

From 3½” mild background strips, reduce 16 squares (3½” x 3½”).

Block Meeting

Prepare 1 accent and 1 medium strip. Pin proper sides collectively and stitch right into a 2 strip set.

Press seams in a single course.

Repeat steps for the remaining strip units:

Medium strip and Mild background strip

Accent strip and Mild background strip

Reduce 1½” items from every set.

Accent/Medium Material Strip Set: 8 whole cuts

Medium/Mild Material Strip Set: 16 whole cuts
Accent/Mild Material Strip Set: 16 whole cuts

For 9″ completed block, Reduce 2″ items from every set.

Accent/Medium Material Strip Set: 8 whole cuts

Medium/Mild Material Strip Set: 16 whole cuts
Accent/Mild Material Strip Set: 16 whole cuts

Prepare two matching items as proven.

Pin, sew and press to create a 4 patch.

Make 4.

Prepare two matching items as proven.

Pin, sew and press to create a 4 patch.

Make 8.

Prepare two matching items as proven.

Pin, sew and press to create a 4 patch.

Make 8.

Press seams as proven above.

Prepare 5 4 patches and 4 mild background squares.
Please take note of the rotation of the 4 patches, as proven above.

Pin and stitch into rows.

Sew rows collectively and press seams open.

Trim to 6½” x 6½” unfinished.

Repeat steps for a complete of 4 Block 8s.

For 9″ completed block, trim to 9½” x 9½” unfinished.
