From taking part in playing cards and posters to envelopes and postcards scrawled with notes, the untraditional canvases holding Mark Powell’s artworks are tapestries of reminiscences and experiences previous. The Brighton-based artist (beforehand) sutures scraps of classic ephemera and attracts in ballpoint pen, rendering intimate portraits, birds, and scenes brimming with emotion in real looking element. A few of his most up-to-date works embrace monochromatic etchings that seize a heron’s tremendous, wispy feathers and a diptych of arms, two softly greedy a tulip and one other wrapped taught in a rope.
